We all know the importance of hydrating – whether it’s your body or your skin, moizturizing and and putting the required amount of fluids into your body will not only improve your organ systems, but also your physique and behavior. For this, I have some tips to help you drink more water, moisturize more, and know when your skin is dry:
Keep a Big Watter Bottle with You at All Times *make sure you’ll be excited to drink from it*
There is nothing more annoying than having to stand up and fill your glass with water every few hours. Avoid this step by keeping a BIG water bottle near you at all times. As mentioned, try to make drinking water an exciting event by getting a water bottle that you actually like. Also, make sure that it’s comfortable to drink from – and preferibly leak proof – so that you don’t have to worry about it when you take it to your bed or something like that.
Moisturize After You Shower – and I Mean RIGHT AFTER
On a trip to the dermatologist, she gave me one of the BEST tips to moisturize in literally seconds. Isn’t it annoying when you are in a hurry or lazy, and have to spend minutes applying moisturizer to your whole body and then wait for it to dry? SOLUTION: take a bath/shower and before you do anything else, get a few pumps of moisturizing cream and apply them to your wet body like you normally would. Then, dry up with your towel like normal. No, you don’t have to wait for the cream to dry or do anything else. The first time feels odd, but later you will love it so much that if you don’t apply it one day you’ll feel weird. Pro tip: keep a cream inside your shower/tub so you don’t forget about it and make your life easier.
Drink Water After You Wake Up
Make sure you drink a glass of water after you wake up to cleanse your body. Drink water before eating anything else (it is recommended that you drink at least 5 glasses). It is not only refreshing, but it will also aid your body and help you absorb nutrients better.
Setup An Alarm
If it helps, set up an alarm to remind you to drink water or moisturize daily. If you’re the kind of person that is constantly busy or needs to write things down, make sure you use an agenda or your phone to remind you to stay hydrated!
Know When You’re Doing It Right
Finally, a simple test – use your nails to scratch the skin on your arms or legs to see if it is dry. If you scratch it, and it leaves white, dry skin behind, you’re skin isn’t hydrated enough. If your skin is moisturized, no trace of dead skin will be left behind.
