Healthy Banana Donut Recipe

Guess what? Another Instagram-inspired recipe! After the success of my Brownie Batter Overnight Oats inspired by @LilSipper, and my No-Bake Chocolate Almond Energy Bites, I found and tried another recipe. This time, however, it’s by the one and only Sascha Barboza, better known as Sascha Fitness.

Si no consigues chía usa linaza. #saschafitness 😉💪🏼🤗😘

She lists a possibility of ingredients and their substitutions to make it, but here are the ones I used to make these healthy banana donuts with chocolate chips:

  • 2 big bananas
  • 1/2 cup of egg whites (4-5 eggs) – though this is optional if you want to keep it vegan. I’ve tried it without them and it works just fine since bananas are a substitute for eggs. If you don’t add eggs, you may want to add a tiny amount of non-dairy milk to make the mixture less thick
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of nut butter
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • Stevia (about 4 of the small, individual pouches) – you may need less or none at all if your bananas are overripe and are adding the chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of oat or almond flour
  • 1/2 cup of rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • Optional (but we really know it isn’t): add chocolate chips 😊 I used semi-sweet drops since it’s what I had, and they added the perfect amount of sweetness

The result are about 6 donuts/mini cakes, but they don’t last for too long, so I don’t recommend increasing the quantity if you’re only one person.

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 375º F
  2. With a mixer, blend the two mashed bananas (you can do this using a fork or other cutlery), the egg whites, coconut oil, nut butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, Stevia, flouroats and chia. In other words, mix all of the ingredients together
  3. Fold the chocolate chips into the mixture, and/or wait until you’ve put the mixture in your mold to drop them inside
  4. Bake for approximately 10-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean

Put non-stick spray on your mold and fill it 3/4 of the way
From the first time I baked them

This recipe is seriously so easy. If you haven’t already realized, I’m really into healthy snacks that are easy and fast to make. This is seriously very easy to make, and there are so many different ways you can make these donuts (with all the ingredient alternatives) that you can probably make them with what you have at home right now.

The second time I made them the banana was super ripe and I didn’t even add sugar. I also didn’t add eggs and they were even better than the first batch💪

Try them and tag us!😄
